Yesterday, the LA28 Organizing Committee notified me that it was scheduled for the end of May.
The announcement of the results of the primary selection of additional events has been postponed to June.
The future timeline is as follows.
◆ June 2022 Announcement of the results of the primary selection. (Currently, up to 9 IF out of about 30 IFs)
Individual presentation to LA28 by IF selected in August.
(Undecided) LA28 proposes additional events to the IOC.
◆ Determined at the 2023 2Q IOC General Assembly (Mumbai).
Selection criteria: Main points are as follows
① Low cost
② Participation of Best Athlete
③ World Championship popularity, popularity in the USA
④ World penetration, youth popularity, gender equality achievement
⑤ Thorough anti-doping
⑥ Contribution to SDGs
Karate is well suited for all of the above items, and we expect good results.
