The KARATE1 – Premier League Paris was held in Paris, France, from January 23rd to 25th. This tournament was the first KARATE1 – Premier League of 2015, featuring 971 participants from 68 countries.
The event attracted a large number of top athletes from around the world, many of whom were winners of the 22nd World Karate Championships in 2014.
This tournament was held based on the new rules stipulated by the WORLD KARATE FEDERATION, effective from January 1st, 2015. This allowed spectators to see the changes in techniques exhibited by the participants, particularly with the new rule whereby grabbing an opponent using both hands is prohibited.
From Japan there were 7 contestants, 2 coaches, 4 judges, and an observation team. Japan achieved four medals including gold medals for Shimbaba Issei and Iwamoto Emiri for the individual kata competitions for men and women respectively.
