World Karate Federation (WKF) has successfully completed the implementation of the Anti-Doping Administration & Management System (ADAMS). ADAMS has been introduced by most Anti Doping Organizations and all WADA accredited anti-doping laboratories. Anti-doping is a very crucial issue and WKF strongly believes that this web-based database management system will promote efficiency, transparency and effectiveness in all anti-doping activities. WKF always enhances its efforts towards a doping-free sporting environment.

During the trip, they met with NOCs leaders, IOC members and local sport authorities in a rather fruitful visit that has served as prelude of the incoming months, were the WKF will be intensively campaigning for the 2020 Olympics. The next appearance of the WKF at the international scene will be in one month from now in Québec, Canada, during the annual SportAccord Convention, where the WKF will present officially Karate 2020 to the Olympic Family.

Both sides had the opportunity to discuss other topics of general interest about karate and certified the continuation of the very good cooperation and understanding that exists between the WKF and the Ukrainian NOC.

Also the President of the Central America and Caribbean Karate Federations (CCCK) Arturo Castillo was present in México The PASO President Mr. Mario Vazquez Raña was re-elected for a new 4 years term.

During their stay in México, the WKF President and the WKF leaders had the opportunity to meet many sport leaders of the Americas, between them numerous IOC members.

The entire WKF waits since long time, with great expectation and excitement, the arrival of big days for karate in Paris. These wishes are also and without any doubt shared not only by the French Karate Federation but also by all those that in one way or another take part in the organisation of these twenty first World Karate Championships, that come back to Paris exactly forty years after the 2nd World Championships of 1972.

In the coordination visit that the WKF made to Paris one year before the event, we have seen the strong institutional support that the French Federation has been able to agglutinate, as well as the superb facilities that will be offered to the many delegations of the 5 continents. Between them, we want to highlight the Paris Bercy venue, a splendid stadium that will make possible the celebration of a high standard Championships, and also by the outstanding conditions of the selected hotels.

Finally, I want to thank the President of the French Karate Federation and the whole organizing team for their leadership, their hard work and their commitment to overcome all difficulties and be in condition to make this huge contribution to the World of Sport, and I also want to congratulate them for their success in having chosen a working team fully capable to face the successful organisation of this great world event.

“TOGETHER STRONGER: THE FUTURE OF SPORT” was the perfect definition for such an important event. With the presence of Mr. Jacques Rogge, IOC President during the Official Opening Ceremony and the Closing Session, as well as Anita DeFrantz, Chair of the IOC Women and Sport Commission, very important activities took place.

Such as the Presentation of the 2012 IOC Women and Sports Awards, Plenaries on Leadership Views on Women in the World of Sports, Partnerships for Progress, Setting the responsibility, Government, legislature and attitudes, Medical Matters, Empowering Women and Girls through Education, Role Models and Leadership, It´s all in the Numbers, Sport, Peace and Development, Business of Sport, Women, Sports and the Media, and Growing up in a Gender Balanced Sport Society,. The 6th International IOC World Conference on Women and Sports will take place in Helsinki, Finland, 12-15 June 2014.

KARATE 1- YOUTH CUP [Download Bulletin]

Dear participant,

After the four first successful editions, we face in 2012 the 5th edition of the WKF Youth Camp and World Cup but in a karate1 format. This year it includes the addition of the children categories and the WKF karate1 Cup will take place in parallel with the youth camp. Again in Greece, in the very beautiful island of Corfu, where the participants are going to find the ideal conditions to fulfil the objective of the Camp; what it is like to train with top world champions in a friendly and cosmopolitan atmosphere whilst getting in touch for a whole week with the state of the art sport of Karate.

Corfu has experienced the organization of the 3rd Youth Camp & Cup that assures this WKF karate1 – Youth Cup will be a complete success.

Finally, I would like to thank the Hellenic Karate Federation and the local authorities for their help and support and I am looking forward to welcoming you all personally.

The German print media and television reported in million editions about the study with the title: “Karate makes elderly people happy” in which the 81 year old Anne Lang played the main character.

However the highlight was the speech of the doctor in charge Dr. Katharina Dahmen-Zimmer at the “1st Chinese-European Congress of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery” in Peking. Alongside with the world’s most famous plastic surgeons and anti-aging experts, Dr. Dahmen-Zimmer as a member of the International Invited Faculty presented the study with the title “Effects of Karate Training on Cognitive functioning and mental state of elderly people .” Karate has got the best chances to become a member of the International Invited Faculty. For this reason Karate could be the first accepted sport against anti-aging.
